The workshop was led by a self advocate who is an AAC user with the help of a facilitator. The key to keeping AAC users engaged and participating without the facilitator or supporters taking over is to make sure everyone is prepared with the homework and knows exactly what to expect. The detailed agenda was distributed in advance. The facilitator stuck closely to the script on the agenda and read the comments participants made in the chat. The facilitator and supporters were asked not to add their own commentary. The agendas included links to the videos along with the scripts. This allowed both auditory and visual learners with various levels of literacy to get the same information. Click on the buttons below to see the detailed agendas.
